Goodbuy Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to your data when you use the app on iPhone or Android.

The short version: your lists stay on your phone. There are no accounts. The app sends anonymous usage statistics to PostHog, which you can turn off. Google shows the ads in the free version.

Data that stays on your phone

Goodbuy stores everything you create in the app’s own storage on your device:

• lists, items, quantities and notes
• store layouts and item groups
• the history of items you have added, used for suggestions
• photos you attach to items
• your settings, such as language, theme and units

We never receive a copy of this data. We can’t see your lists or photos, and we can’t restore them if you lose your phone or uninstall the app.

Camera and photos

The app asks for camera or photo library access only when you attach a picture to an item. It copies the picture you choose into its own storage. It does not read or upload anything else from your library. You can turn this permission off at any time in your phone’s settings.

Usage statistics

To help us improve the app, Goodbuy sends usage events to PostHog, an analytics service. An event says what happened, for example “a list was created”, “an item was added with a photo” or “the Premium screen was opened”.

Events never contain the names of your lists or items, your notes or your photos. The random ID is not linked to your name, email or advertising ID, and it is different on every install. PostHog sees your IP address when the app sends events, and may use it to estimate your country or city.

Ads

The free version shows banner ads from Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects data from your device, such as:

• your device’s advertising ID
• your IP address and approximate location derived from it
• device and app information
• how you interact with the ads

Google processes this data under its own Privacy Policy. Its page on how Google uses information from apps explains more. The ad SDK does not see your lists or photos.

Children

Goodbuy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
